Here is a Kansas picture that challenges the perception that Kansas is nothing more than dull and flat!  A journey off of I-70 into the less-travelled county roads will lead you to places like this!  This unusual limestone rock formation is a small section of what is known as, "Monument Rocks."  Also called, "Chalk Pyramids," the limestone formations are believed to have been produced by erosion from the waters of a large inland sea millions of years ago.  Some segments of the protrusion are only a few feet high while others stand 70 feet above the surrounding Plains!  This site is only one of many eye-catching land features within the great state of Kansas!!!  If you are curious about what lies beyond the heavily travelled asphalt trails, take an adventure along a side trail and see where it leads to!  You may be surprised!
